The Future of Ægir 3 is Bryght — and shipping: BOA-5.88.8

Omega8.cc is the lead developer team for Ægir 3 on the BOA stack (Barracuda-Octopus-Ægir) — and we remain thankful to all past contributors who brought Ægir to life: your work makes today's progress possible. The July 2026 Continuity Edition release (BOA-5.88.8) brings 422 commits across six repositories, with every headline feature in both the free LTS and the commercial PRO editions:
- Modern compatibility: Drupal 11 and PHP 8.5 fully supported on the BOA stack, alongside every generation back to Drupal 6.
- Backdrop CMS: now a first-class citizen on BOA — including a Drupal 6 → 7 → Backdrop upgrade chain that runs as ordinary Ægir tasks.
- Migration delivered: the new aegir2boa toolset imports entire classic Ægir servers (Apache or Nginx) into BOA, with revert paths at every step.
- Development continues on GitHub: github.com/omega8cc/boa — while we keep using the Drupal.org issue queues, so the community effort continues here too and improvements can be systematically backported.

Ægir is a mature, self-hosted hosting system built on Drupal itself, made to manage a large number of Drupal sites from one control panel. To deploy a new site you simply create a new Site node; to back up, migrate or upgrade sites, you manage your site nodes as you would any other node.
